New to the comm
Hi :) I'm Tina. I'm a 40 year old newly (very newly) single pagan lesbian mother of two nearly grown children. I was a late bloomer *g*. I live in St. Louis MO.

Being single is disconcerting to me, as my ex-wife and I were together for seven and a half years. I feel disconnected from the lesbian community, in St. Louis and in general. So I've spent the evening joining LJ comms and trying to figure out how to meet people. I like Novak's, but heading to the bar doesn't seem to be the best way to make friends.

Please feel free to check out my LJ and drop me a line or friend me or whatever.

lesbians who date men?
please advise me if this sort of post is not allowed.

i'm writing an article on the theme of lesbian-identified women dating/loving/shagging men, and i want to know what you think about it. the angle i'm going to take is that sexuality is fluid, labels mean different things to different people, and that they don't describe the complexity of sex and sexuality. or rather, that will be the moral of my story, the real meat will be describing the 'phenomenon'. you do not have to be a lesbian, or even identify as queer (or anything at all) to answer some of these questions. you can even be straight.

Lesbian Questionnaire

My name is Megan Haines and I am doing research about lesbian's experiences with the feminist movement. There is very little research focusing on lesbians' general experiences, and almost none on their special relationship to the women's movement. I am trying to correct this. I have created an online survey that explores these relationships. This is the link for the survey if you are interested in taking it:

Survey Link

If anyone of this community would be willing to either take the survey or pass the survey on to their friends or other communities I would be grateful.

If this post is too of topic for this community please feel free to delete it!
If you have any questions please email me at mhain6hy@umw.edu or my advisor, Dr. Mindy Erchull at merchull@umw.edu.

Thanks for your time!

11/20 Trangender Day of Remembrance Candlelight Vigil

From an email:

International Transgender Day of Remembrance Candlelight Vigil:
Monday, Nov. 20th @ 7PM at the South 40 Clocktower on the Wash U campus.

Come mourn the deaths of people murdered due to anti-transgender violence in this past year. Hear the stories of people who were killed and help raise awareness about violence against those with differing gender identities and expressions. Some local St. Louis religious leaders will be present to speak, but the event is not inherently religious. Following the meeting at the clocktower, we will then proceed into Friedman Lounge in Wohl Center where our guests will speak. Open to all.

If you have questions, or need more information, email pridewu@gmail.com. To learn more about who is being remembered this year see http://www.rememberingourdead.org/day/who.html

Driving directions to the clocktower:
To reach the clocktower, turn onto Shepley Drive from Big Bend. This is the entrance to the South 40 on the western side. A parking garage is hidden behind the dorms on the left. There is also metered parking across the street from the garage on the right. From there, walk east along Shepley Drive until you see the small, green clocktower near Ursa's Cafe.

Wash U's campus is also accessible by MetroLink from the Forsyth Station stop.

Single among closet dwellers
Hi, I'm 29 going to be the big 3 0 this July. I've been here for a couple of years with a 6 month break to Australia. And I've yet to meet and make any friends here in Branson or Springfield. It's really hard when you don't know anyone to get out and meet people. I'm single, and have been for the past 6 months. Been getting my life in order as best as I can. I would love to meet or talk with ya'll if you're interested? I don't know what else to say but HI and glad to have found this community.
